FOOD TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
There are facilities such as dormitory for female students, dining hall, canteen-cafeteria, football field, volleyball court, wireless internet access, etc. in our vocational school. Various activities are organized in social, cultural, sportive and technical activities.
About Our Program:
Food Technology program was established in 2016-2017. With a quota of 30 students, student placement is made.
With 3 academic staff, we are trying to provide our students with education at a level that will compete with other universities in the national and international arena by using all the possibilities of modern education.
We have a food laboratory that our students can benefit from.
The duration of education in the program is 2 years. Our students will graduate with 120 ECTS credits at the end of 2 years. In the program, theoretical and practical, compulsory and elective vocational courses are given.
Field of Food Technology:
The field of food technology is a branch of technology that processes raw materials based on agriculture and animal breeding by application of modern technologies and performs food control services in terms of sensory, physical, chemical and microbiological aspects to ensure food safety and produces appropriate food for consumption and offers it to human diet.

Food Technician
He/she is an intermediate professional staff who ensures the production, packaging, storage and transportation of foodstuff to the consumer in accordance with health conditions, performs and interprets chemical and microbiological analyzes.
Duties of Food Technician:
∙ Uses various techniques in the processing of foods.
∙ Takes samples from foods and food additives to check the health suitability and quality of foods. Makes sensory, physical, chemical and microbiological analyzes using different methods in the laboratory. Evaluates the results, organizes reports and notifies the authorities.
∙ Applies hygiene and cleaning rules in businesses. Controls food hygiene and sanitation. ∙ It ensures that products of poor quality and unsuitable for health are not allowed to be sold or released to the market.
∙ Ensures that the food produced is properly packaged and preserved.
∙ Ensures the production of quality and standard products.
∙ Follows the latest technologies used in food production.
∙ Ensures communication between his/her supervisor and the people he/she is in charge of in the unit where he/she works.
Work Environment and Conditions:
Food technicians work in the food producing factories and laboratories. The laboratory conditions are clean, but the production facilities can be hot, humid and smelly. Vocational staff communicate with food engineers, chemical engineers, biologists and veterinarians.
Working Areas and Employment Opportunities:
Graduates of our program; are employed as professional staff in relevant public institutions and organizations (Food Control Laboratories, Turkish Public Health Institute, Provincial Health Directorates, Municipalities, etc. many public organizations) and all private sector organizations that carry out food production.
Entry Criteria for Vocational Education:
Students are enrolled according to ÖSYM scores. For that candidates are required to take the “Yükseköğretim Kurumları Sınavı” (YKS) conducted by the ÖSYM Presidency and get adequate “TYT” score.
Duration and Content of the Education:
The Food Technology program is a 2-year associate degree program, comprising 4 semesters of education.
During education period; courses such as Chemistry, Food Chemistry, General Microbiology, General Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Processing Techniques, Oil - Milk - Meat - Fruit, Vegetable and Cereal Technology, Food Analysis and Control are given.
Undergraduate Programs that can be transferred with DGS:
Those who successfully graduate from the Food Technology associate degree program can transfer to “Nutrition and Dietetics”, “Food Engineering”, “Agricultural Engineering” and “Chemistry” undergraduate programs if they are successful in the “Dikey Geçiş Sınavı” (DGS) held by ÖSYM.
